RIIC is born!!!

RIIC is born!!!

You know that feeling – when you crawl out of the Lodge on your hands and knees and you blink the sweat out of your eyes and struggle to stand up and you look up at the sky and you’re amazed out how beautiful it all is and you thank the Creator for how alive you feel? You know that feeling?

That’s how RIIC feels right now.

Welcome to Reporting in Indigenous Communities – an online guide to assist journalists who cover Indigenous news.

It’s been a long journey. Dreaming about this website, writing about it, talking about it, researching it, designing it.

But RIIC hopes the journey is just beginning.

If you want to find out more about how this site came to be, check out the “About” section (aptly named). Or if you want to see all the amazing people who helped RIIC along the way, you can find that in the “Acknowledgements” section.

If you’re a reporter on deadline just trying to make your news story better and you’re here to get the goods fast – well, jump right into the RIIC Reporters Checklist.

But, if you’re eager to learn a thing or two, pull up a chair and sit down here with RIIC. Let’s have a cup of tea together. Let’s share the news. Bet you’ve got a few stories of your own.

Welcome. RIIC is sure glad you could make it.
